ISM2024 – ISM General Assembly and Nomination of New ISM Chairperson

Dear ISM members and friends,

The general assembly which will take place at the meeting on Tuesday (May 28) will elect a new chairperson which will replace the current chairperson after next ISM annual meeting in 2025.
The ISM board is proposing Assoc. Prof. Tamar Segal-Peretz, From the Wolfson Department of Chemical Engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. (https://chemeng.technion.ac.il/en/team/tamar-segal-peretz/)
 

Tamar has contributed greatly to the ISM, as a board member for the last 6 years – undertaking many additional roles such as chairing scientific committees and organizing workshops.The board members voted unanimously to put forward Tamar’s nomination to our members.

Tamar Segal-Peretz is an Associate Professor at the Wolfson Department of Chemical Engineering at the Technion- Israel Institute of Technology. She received her PhD from the Interdisciplinary Program of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the Technion, followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Argonne National Laboratory and the Pritzker School for Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago. At the Technion, Tamar, together with Prof. Ishi Talmon, heads the Technion Center of Electron Microscopy of Soft Matter. Her research is focused on understanding and developing polymer and hybrid functional nanostructures, with strong emphasis on 2D and 3D electron microscopy characterization. She has been a member of the ISM board since 2018.

A sad announcement – passing away of our colleague Eyal Shimoni

Dear ISM members and friends,

It is with deep sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Eyal Shimoni on Saturday, July 22.

Eyal passed away this morning after a serious illness.

Eyal was part of the ISM board for many years and served as the secretary and chair of ISM between the years 2009-2017. Eyal has contributed greatly to ISM and we are very grateful for that.

On behalf of the Israel Society for Microscopy, we send our condolences to Eyal’s family.

New “ISM – The Israel Society for Microscopy” WhatsApp Group

Dear ISM members and friends,

Recently many ISM members reported that some emails sent from ISM were blocked or rejected by the servers of the universities and institutes.
 
Therefore the ISM board decided to open an ISM WhatsApp group where all important messages will be posted as a backup to the emails.

The “ISM – The Israel Society for Microscopy” WhatsApp group is meant only for updates about the following:

  1. Information about important activities of the society
  2. Microscopy related job opportunities
  3. Information about scholarships
  4. Microscopy related news
Anyone who wishes to post important announcements to the group can send the message privately to the group admins and they will post it to the entire group.
