The Lev Margulis Memorial Prize: |
The Lev Margulis Memorial Prize is awarded annually to an outstanding Israeli student in the field of microscopy.
Usually, in alternate years, students are chosen from either the field of Life or Materials Science. This year, for the special occasion of the ISM jubilee, two Israeli students will be awarded the prize.

On behalf of the Lev Margulis Prize jury, we are happy to announce the two recipients of the Lev Margulis Prize for 2016:
- Life Sciences – Gal Mor-Khalifa, Department of Structural Biology, Weizmann Institute of Science, for her work titled: Biomineralization pathways in a foraminifer revealed using a novel correlative cryofluorescence-SEM-EDS technique.
- Materials Science – Ran Eitan Abutbul, Department of Materials Engineering and the Ilse Katz Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, for his work titled: Shape and Phase Control of Nanocrystalline π-SnS and π-SnSe – New Cubic Phases in the Tin Chalcogenide System.
