The 2024 Lev Margulis Memorial Prize Recipient:<\/div>
On behalf of the jury of the Lev Margulis Prize, we are happy to announce that Tomer Bucher from the Technion<\/strong> is the recipient of the 2024 Lev Margulis Prize in the field of Materials Science for his work titled: “COHERENT AMPLIFICATION IN ULTRAFAST ELECTRON MICROSCOPY”<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n

We extend warm congratulations to Tomer, who will give an oral presentation of his work during the parallel sessions of ISM2024.<\/div><\/div>\n

The 2024 Yael Mutsafi Memorial Prize Recipient:<\/div>
On behalf of the jury of the Yael Mutsafi Prize, we are happy to announce that Raz Ben-Uri from the Weizmann Institute<\/strong> is the recipient of the 2024 Yael Mutsafi Prize in the field of Life Sciences for his work titled: “ESCALATING HIGH-DIMENSIONAL IMAGING USING COMBINATORIAL CHANNEL MULTIPLEXING AND DEEP LEARNING”<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n

We extend warm congratulations to Raz, who will give an oral presentation of his work during the parallel sessions of ISM2024.<\/div><\/div>\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ISM Lev Margulis & Yael Mutsafi Excellence Prizes :<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The ISM is offering two prizes annually for outstanding students in the various fields of microscopy:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The Lev Margulis Memorial Prize<\/strong> for outstanding students in the field of microscopy for Materials Sciences. This prize will be given to a work that deals with microscopy analysis of materials, including any sort of microscopy technique and image analysis.<\/li>\n
  2. The Yael Mutsafi Memorial Prize<\/strong> for outstanding students in the field of microscopy for Life Sciences. This prize will be given to a work related to living systems, including any sort of microscopy technique and image analysis.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The prize recipients will receive the prizes during the opening session of the annual meeting and will present their work during the afternoon parallel sessions.<\/p>\n

    \nLev Margulis<\/strong> immigrated to Israel in 1987 from the Soviet Union, after having been denied an exit visa for 8 years. He joined the Weizmann Institute of Science where he pioneered the use of TEM for materials science. Lev was a remarkable man and a true friend, always happy to share the happiest moments of discovering new structures of matter. Lev passed away untimely in 1995 at the age of 54.<\/em><\/p>\n

    Yael Mutsafi<\/strong> graduated with a PhD from the Weizmann Institute of Science, where she studied the structure of giant viruses by multiple electron microscopy approaches. Yael was a promising scientist, a gifted microscopist, and an unforgettable person, loved and honored by all who knew her. Yael passed away in 2019 after a severe illness while in her post-doc studies in the US.<\/em>

    The applications will be evaluated by an external scientific committee appointed by the ISM chairperson and will be kept totally confidential.<\/p>\n
