This scholarship will support two graduate students (MSc or PhD) or postdoctoral fellows in the field of microscopy, enabling them to participate in conferences, workshops, or training programs either in Israel or abroad.<br \/>\nThe scholarship is made possible thanks to the generous donation of Mr. Eran Tadmor, a close friend of Dr. Shimoni. <\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#d4d4d4;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#eeeeee;border-color:#ffffff;color:#000000;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">\n<strong>Eyal Shimoni<\/strong> <em>was a pioneer in the field of biological sample preparation for electron microscopy, beginning with his PhD studies at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich. Upon joining the Electron Microscopy Unit at the Weizmann Institute in 2001, Eyal introduced and developed innovative techniques for sample preparation and imaging, including Cryo-SEM and STEM tomography.<br \/>\nEyal was an active and dedicated member of the ISM board for many years, serving as both secretary and chair between 2009 and 2017. Tragically, he passed away in 2023 after battling a severe illness. Eyal was not only a passionate scientist but also a deeply compassionate individual who cherished both nature and people. He regarded students as the next generation of leading scientists and devoted considerable time to mentoring and supporting them. This travel scholarship is a natural continuation of his legacy, designed to inspire and empower students to present their research on international stages.<\/em><br \/>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<li>Two travel awards of 5,000 ILS each will be granted annually, one in the life sciences and one in materials science.
