This prize will be given to a work that deals with microscopy analysis of materials, including any sort of microscopy technique and image analysis.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Yael Mutsafi Memorial Prize<\/strong> for outstanding students in the field of microscopy for Life Sciences. This prize will be given to a work related to living systems, including any sort of microscopy technique and image analysis.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The prize recipients will receive the prizes during the opening session of the annual meeting and will present their work during the afternoon parallel sessions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#d4d4d4;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#eeeeee;border-color:#ffffff;color:#000000;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">\n<strong>Lev Margulis<\/strong> <em>immigrated to Israel in 1987 from the Soviet Union, after having been denied an exit visa for 8 years. He joined the Weizmann Institute of Science where he pioneered the use of TEM for materials science. Lev was a remarkable man and a true friend, always happy to share the happiest moments of discovering new structures of matter. Lev passed away untimely in 1995 at the age of 54.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Yael Mutsafi<\/strong> <em>graduated with a PhD from the Weizmann Institute of Science, where she studied the structure of giant viruses by multiple electron microscopy approaches. Yael was a promising scientist, a gifted microscopist, and an unforgettable person, loved and honored by all who knew her.
