| The Eyal Shimoni Travel Scholarship : |
ISM is proud to launch this year the Eyal Shimoni Travel Scholarship, an annual award honoring the memory of Dr. Eyal Shimoni. This scholarship will support two graduate students (MSc or PhD) or postdoctoral fellows in the field of microscopy, enabling them to participate in conferences, workshops, or training programs either in Israel or abroad.
The scholarship is made possible thanks to the generous donation of Mr. Eran Tadmor, a close friend of Dr. Shimoni.
Eyal was an active and dedicated member of the ISM board for many years, serving as both secretary and chair between 2009 and 2017. Tragically, he passed away in 2023 after battling a severe illness. Eyal was not only a passionate scientist but also a deeply compassionate individual who cherished both nature and people. He regarded students as the next generation of leading scientists and devoted considerable time to mentoring and supporting them. This travel scholarship is a natural continuation of his legacy, designed to inspire and empower students to present their research on international stages.
The prize recipients will receive the prizes during the opening session of the upcoming ISM annual meeting.
